PMEA Cares: New Teacher
Webinar Series Continues The PMEA Mentor Program is pleased to host a summer webinar series for new teachers and those searching for employment. As many recent graduates did not get the full student teaching experience, this series' mission is to link successful music education professionals (mentors) with individuals searching for expert guidance and to fill in some of the gaps of what might have been missed. The webinar series will run through the month of June, every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7. While this series is geared towards first through third year teachers, all PMEA members are welcome to join us! This week's webinars:
Be sure to check out the PMEA Webinars page for complete information as well as recordings of previous webinars. Act 48 hours are available for these as well as previous webinars, provided the two required online surveys (found on the webinars page) are completed. Our next roundtable will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 @ 7 PM for Beginning Strings Roundtable. Katelyn Piroth & Jeanne Tupper lead a discussion with members of PMEA District 1 regarding beginning strings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Members can register in advance at the link provided below.
PMEA members only https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwodeutqz8qGNPTfDu6OQDBvWl2cr4fR4iw Hello Everyone,
This is communication is rather lengthy. It contains quite a bit of information that may be relevant to members moving forward. Please take a moment to read through. Our District 1 Beginning Band Roundtable was a great opportunity for directors across District 1 to be able to meet and dialogue about challenges and ideas for moving forward. We had just over 30 attendees and there was some great discussion. Special thanks to Aaron Booz and Ben Cook for their efforts in putting together this opportunity for members. In an effort to share best practices navigating the times, PMEA D1 will be hosting a series of roundtables this summer via Zoom. The aim is to keep a professional dialogue and interact with your colleagues facing the same challenges you are moving into the next school year. Discussions will be guided and help initiate discussion relative to trends in our region.
Tuesday, May 26 at 7:00 pm To kick this effort off, Aaron Booz and Ben Cook will be hosting a roundtable discussion concerning all things Beginning Band. Discussion topics will include tryouts, instruments distribution, recruitment and retention moving into the next year. Anyone interested can sign-up via the link below. An invitation to the call will be sent the day before with the zoom meeting information. Again, this is the first of several discussion we plan to coordinate through the summer months to help everyone in our district share ideas. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf0Zm6SavqH1gM_UQW3rA09sADzaoNaTKW4E3_HfSkpaG9oQQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Respectfully, Robert Traugh President, PMEA District 1 D1 website: https://district1.pmea.net State website: https://www.pmea.net |
