Honors Jazz Update

9/27/2013

Dear PMEA District 1 Band Directors,

It’s my pleasure to host the combined PMEA District 1 Jazz festival this year at Pine-Richland High School.  The auditions for the two bands will take place at PRHS on Monday, October 28, 2013 beginning at 5pm.  There will be a directors meeting at 4:30pm in the band room.  Remind your students to bring $5 to cover registration and a few bucks to purchase food at the snack table.  There will be food provided for the directors in the band room.

If your students are selected to participate, the two day festival will take place on Friday, Dec. 13th from 8:30am until 4pm and Saturday, Dec. 14th from 9am until the noon banquet and a 2pm concert.

Our two guest directors are Eric DeFade, a renowned saxophonist and Director of Jazz Studies at CMU, and Dr. James Moore, an excellent trumpet player and Director of Bands and Jazz Ensembles at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

Please access the PMEA District One website for detailed information concerning the audition materials.  Site:   http://district1.pmea.net/   (Click on Festivals and then Audition music)

Pine-Richland High School can be found at 700 Warrendale Rd and directions can be found on our website under “About Us”:  http://www.pinerichland.org

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me an email or give a call.  Jim Stillwagon will also be hosting this event since we team teach the band program at Pine-Richland.  Hope to see you all on October 28th.
