10/13/2019

I write to invite you to Duquesne’s 3rdAnnual Choral Kaleidoscope, a one-day professional development event for choral directors on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Duquesne University! This event is growing, and last year, we had participants from across Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio!

In 2020, I am delighted to present Dr. David Frego, Director of the Penn State School of Music and internationally-recognized Dalcroze teacher and scholar, as our guest clinician! David will lead an introductory session on Dalcroze Eurhythmics and a session on music literacy through movement. Also, we partner with Dr. Greg Marchetti, Physical Therapist, for a special session on injury prevention for the conductor. I will lead a session on optimizing the choir’s sound and a conducting masterclass with the DU Pappert Chorale!

Here is the full schedule:
8:30–9:00 - Registration and Coffee
9:00–10:00 - Optimizing the Choir: Vocal Resonance and Singer Formation (Daley)
10:15–11:00 - Conductor Health: Essential Body Alignment Exercises and Stretches for the Conductor (Daley and Marchetti)
11:00–12:00 - Your Body-the First Instrument: Introduction to Dalcroze Eurhythmics (Frego)
12:00–1:00 - Lunch (included in registration)
1:00–2:00 - Music Literacy through Movement: Using Dalcroze Solfege in Choral Repertoire (Frego)
2:15–4:30 - Conducting master class with the DU Pappert Chorale (Daley)

Registration is OPEN NOW: https://form.jotform.com/72895573769176

$50 before December 1! After December 1, registration jumps to $60! Act 48 credits will be available!
