District 5 invited D1 to Professional Development Workshop

1/24/2023

We would like to invite our District 1 colleagues to the District 5 Professional Development Workshop! The theme for this year is “Building Community,” and it will take place on Monday, February 20, 2023 (Presidents' Day), at the Grove City College's Pew Fine Arts Center.

We will be welcoming Dr. Cameron W. Jenkins as our Keynote Speaker for the event, sponsored by the Slippery Rock Student Government Association. Dr. Jenkins is the founder of Full Potential Leadership, an international communications platform that coaches innovative leaders in maximizing their strengths, equipping their teams and reaching their full potential. He is also a Conn-Selmer educational clinician and the co-host of "Mind the Gap," a web-based program for novice music educators powered by Music For All.

Following the keynote, attendees can choose from a number of breakout sessions that will serve the elementary general music, strings, band, and choral content areas. A boxed lunch will be provided for everyone, and the day will conclude with a fun Modern Band Jam Session led by Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich.

Registration is FREE to all PMEA and PCMEA Members. Non-members are invited and encouraged to attend for a small fee of $10 that will cover the cost of lunch.

Interested participants need to complete the following registration form by Sunday, February 5th, to reserve a spot at the workshop!

2023 SRU Honors Flute Ensemble

1/3/2023

My name is Rose Obergefell, and I am a flute student at Slippery Rock University. I am writing to share information about the 2023 Slippery Rock University Honors Flute Ensemble event. Each spring semester we invite young flutists to join us for a weekend full of rehearsals, clinics, and a final concert featuring three world premieres. We will also have a representative from Flute World selling flutes, music and accessories at a discounted rate.

This year the event will take place February 25 and 26, 2023. All students will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich, SRU Associate Professor of Flute and Music Education, and our incredible guest artists, Gareth McLearnon, Lindsey Goodman, and Stephen Neely. The audition material and event poster are attached. We would love to have your students join us for this fun-filled weekend!
