Dave Deitz, who is PMEA’s liaison to PDE, attended the national Modern Band/Little Kids Rock Summit last summer, and during the 2018 PMEA summer conference, he approached members of the PMEA leadership about implementing it as a state-wide program in PA. (For those of you who are not familiar with Modern Band, it is a free curriculum that uses popular music styles in a sound first and then reading approach to teaching music. It can be used with anything from rock bands to ukulele ensembles.) PMEA came on board with this idea, meaning that PMEA would be the owners of this curriculum for the state of PA, and it would be free for members to use it.
The PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz Festival has been cancelled for Friday, Feb. 1st due to inclement weather.
The plan is to have a one day festival tomorrow beginning at 8:00 am as scheduled with a 4:00 pm concert. We will stick to the posted schedule for tomorrow as closely as we can. Thank you for all of your help this morning and hopefully we will see you tomorrow morning It has come to our attention that there is an issue with the publisher publishing some copies of the baritone/trombone version written in the tuba octave. Please check that your students have a correct copy. The first note should be 2nd space c for the baritone, like the following:
JHS District Chorus (combined East & West) will be hosted at Central Catholic High School on Friday, March 8, 2019 and Saturday, March 9, 2019. Michael Mackey will be the host director.
