Steel City Clarinet Day 2021 will be held IN-PERSON on Saturday August 28 from 9am-5pm at North Hills High School. At SCCD, high school students, college students, continuing adult learners, teachers, performers, and faculty are invited to participate in master classes and special topic workshops with featured artists and guests. The day's Featured Artist, Dr. Andy Hudson from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, will work with area District 1 clarinet students in a special masterclass on this year's PMEA Honors Band audition piece. Dr. Lynda Dembowski and Rachael Cohen will also host an audition prep panel session. Participants have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in the Steel City Clarinet Day Clarinet Choir and to browse and shop with music businesses from the local area and from around the country. Congratulations PMEA District 1 Scholarship Recipients!
Each year PMEA District 1 awards $1000 scholarships to three seniors (one in each area - strings, vocal, and band) in District 1 that have definite plans for a career in music education or a music-related field. The award is based on musical achievements and academic excellence.
