I wanted to write to you with an update on where things stand in District 1 before the school year starts for many of you. As you all know, all district-level in person festivals have been canceled as of the state board meeting in August.
We know now that each district will be responsible for submitting a representation of students to what will be the virtual all-state ensembles.
The district-level executive committee met and decided that we would like to see what the Virtual All-State festival looks like before rolling out any district-level plans. We will likely use the audition material listed on the District 1 website as an audition to recommend students to move on to the state level. A timeline for auditions at the district level largely depends on the timeframe for the state level. Again, we will wait to see what plans look at the state level before making any arrangements at the district level.
We also have a few ideas about other virtual programs at the district-level we may be able to offer in the winter or spring. We are currently exploring the viability of suggestions. If you have a specific idea you would like to share; please contact any District 1 officer. We will be meeting again when the All-State plans are made known to plan the rest of the year at our district level. If we have your ideas before that time, we will include them for discussion!

SHARE AN ONLINE LESSON!
https://district1.pmea.net/lesson-sharing.html
Please take a moment of your time to visit the online lesson sharing project! Contribute something for your colleagues around District 1. So far, HS level choir teachers have the most submissions to share. If every member of District 1 contributes 1 lesson, all members will have a treasure trove of ideas to peruse when you need them! The lessons will be made available in the members-only section of the website at https://district1.pmea.net on September 1st.

LOGIN TO THE STATE WEBSITE
The state changed the membership management provider and asked all members to log in to their accounts at the state level.

I will be in touch with more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, we wish you all the best as we move into the Fall. If there is anything that I or any other officer can do to help along the way, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will do everything we can to support you through this new terrain.
Respectfully,
