Summer Conference Begins Monday, July 22 We look forward to seeing many of you in State College very soon for this year's summer conference. Just added to the program is Pennsylvania State Representative Eddie Day Pashinski who will briefly share legislative and advocacy tips on Monday evening. The complete and updated Summer Conference Schedule & Session Info is available on the PMEA website. If you have not yet registered and would still like to come, please call the PMEA office on Monday, July 15 (8 a.m.-4 p.m.). No registrations can be taken after this date. **If you have already registered and haven't already done so, don't forget to complete the Session Selection Form to sign up for the break-outs you wish to attend during this event. Nominations for Future All-State Guest Conductors Being Accepted PMEA is currently accepting nominations for future All-State conductors. Nominations should include a short bio and resume of the conductor with experience in conducting students of this age level and All-State caliber. Any PMEA member may nominate a potential All-State conductor but we ask that you have observed the conductor and include a short affirmation as to why he/she is being nominated. If you're interested in submitting a nomination, please complete the All-State Conductor Nomination Form by this Monday, July 15th. NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles Update While the selections to the 2013 NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles are not yet available, NAfME officials say the results will be released soon (in the next week or so). As soon as the results are made public they will be posted on the PMEA website. Don’t Forget to Renew! The current PMEA/NAfME membership year just ended on June 30, 2013. Membership forms were mailed out in May and the cost of membership is the same no matter when you renew. We recommend renewing no later than August 1 to guarantee full, uninterrupted access to exclusive member services such as the PMEA Summer Conference, a full year's subscription (4 issues) to PMEA News, Act 48 credits from PMEA sponsored events and much more. Online renewal is available by selecting the "Log In" button in the top right corner of the PMEA website and then logging in and selecting the Online Store menu option. 2013 PMEA Summer Conference Registration Deadline Monday! Just five days remain to sign up for the 2013 PMEA Summer Conference, featuring advocacy speaker John Benham. Register now before it's too late! Online registration is available at www.pmea.net by logging in (via the Log in option in the top right corner) and selecting the Online Event Registration link. Complete Summer Conference Schedule & Session Info for this outstanding professional development opportunity is also available on the PMEA website. **If you have already registered, don’t forget to complete the Session Selection Form to sign up for the break-outs you wish to attend during this event. The $50 registration fee covers Monday lunch and dinner, Tuesday breakfast, all breaks and sessions. Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. 2014 PMEA Performing Group and Session Proposals-Deadline Tuesday, June 25 Performing Group applications must be submitted via ACCEPTD online by midnight, Tuesday, June 25th (or postmarked and mailed to the PMEA Office, 56 S. Third St., Hamburg, PA 19526 if submitting a hard copy cd) by this date. Session proposals must also be submitted by this date either via the Online Session Proposal Form or by completing the Hard Copy Form and emailing it to [email protected] or mailing it to the PMEA office. Complete Information can be found in the Annual Conference section of the PMEA website under the Conferences and Events menu option. Calling Future Leaders for New PMEA Program! PMEA is pleased to announce its new Leadership Program, created to develop the leadership necessary to ensure the long-term growth and advancement of both music education and the association. This program will begin at the 2013 PMEA Summer Conference (July 22-23 in State College) and conclude in March at the 2014 PMEA Annual Conference. There is a $75 enrollment fee, which will be returned upon successful completion (100% participation) of the program. Summer Conference registration is included in this fee. One to three members from each PMEA district will be selected to participate. PMEA's 6th annual golf outing will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Country Club (formerly the Elks Club, 100 Elks Club Road, Boalsburg, PA). Whether you’ve been golfing for years, or have just picked up a set of clubs, come join us for an afternoon of great fun! The cost will be $60 and includes 18 holes of golf (scramble format), golf cart and a light dinner.
