Some of you may be aware of the direct conflict between the November 19th PYSO rehearsal and concert with our District 1 PMEA Honors Band and Honors Orchestra festivals. I wanted to give you the background that created this conflict. PMEA's District 1 festival coordinator reached out to PYSO in March 2017 with our planned festival dates in an effort to dialogue about scheduling. PYSO's schedule was created for the 2017-2018 season in June. We did not become aware of the Nov. 19th conflict until last week. I called and spoke directly to the PYSO Executive Director who informed me that the scheduling of the concert on November 19th at 2:30pm was their only option. I was happy to hear PYSO express the importance for both organizations to work together in an attempt to avoid conflicts that constrict opportunities for the students we all serve. I am hopeful that we can communicate more judiciously in the future.
